Admissions and Options

To join our studio, you can choose from these options:

​

1. Individual Acting Lessons 

One-hour lessons, one-on-one, where we develop your technique and interpretation using acting and voice technique, improvisation, and script analysis and interpretation. This option is only available for your first four lessons, to help you ease into things if you don't feel confident to join a group. After the first four lessons, you will be required to join a group class.

​2. Group Acting Lessons

• ADULTS: Drop-in two-hour lessons in a group of maximum 6 students, where we develop your technique and interpretation using acting and voice technique, improvisation, and script analysis and interpretation.​

• KIDS: Drop-in one-hour classes with a maximum 6 kids per class.

​

3. Self-tapes
If you only want to work on an audition, we have a one-hour audition package available. We coach and film your performance in-studio with our camera, microphone and lights. We then edit and transfer the filmed audition to the appropriate person. The audition package starts at R350 for the first hour, including editing and transfer. After the first hour, each additional half-hour is billed at R150.

4. Individual One-off Character Coaching

• ADULTS and KIDS: You can book a one-off, or ongoing coaching sessions, to prepare for a specific part in a play or TV-series. You've landed the part but now you might feel unsure about how to prepare for the shoot. Book a one-off coaching session or sessions and let us help you analyze your character and prepare for your shoot days.

5. Show-reels

We focus on preparing you for a career in film and TV and also offer a show-reel for agent-hunting option. Individual sessions (R350 per hour) to work on different monologues, which are then recorded and edited together for your official show-reel. It is advised that you work on monologues in different accents and languages to showcase your abilities. Show-reels are edited together at no extra cost.

6. Short films

We regularly offer opportunities to participate in the making of short films, either with us or a Cape Town Film School, such as AFDA or SAE. Our goal is to produce regular short films with our students, to give you opportunity to experience being on a professional film-set, to get your face out there and to have something to show agents when you go agent hunting.

 

We call ourselves The Studio because we follow the concept of the original Actor's Studio in New York, where training sessions were offered on a drop-in and/or one-off basis. Thus, you can join The Studio at any point and you can drop-in

• for a one-off session, or 

• for ongoing training, or

• to work on a specific character or part, or

• to work on an audition, or

• to work on an audition and to record your self-tape, or

• you can work on your show-reel over several individual sessions.

All drop-in sessions need to be booked ahead to make sure there is space available in the class.

Apart from working as stated above, we remain in a mentoring relationship and guide and assist you in acquiring an agent and making career decisions as you go along.

• Individual sessions: R350 an hour 

For the first four lessons only. (Except if you are working on a specific part or show-reel.) After your first four individual lessons you have to join a group class.

We aim to work around your availability to set up time-slots that suit you.

• Group sesssions: R200 an hour per person.​
